I walked right by a poem today
Then stopped and turned around,
The house is lit by sunny rays
Its disdainful grace abounds.
A ring of unruly flowers
Surrounds the vibrant lawn,
And the pillars rise up like towers
Keeping watch through dusk and dawn.
Frozen on the grass there stands
A testament of Beauty and Grace,
The woman walks with outstretched hands
Pulling a dove in close to her face.
And one is left to wonder,
Could that be Hope on Emily’s palm?
With message resounding like thunder
Yet leaving a lasting calm.
I walked right by a poem today,
It’s frozen in time and space
And I found I did not want to go
From its disdainful grace.
