Breath gone and

Chest collapsing

Into the empty space

Left behind.

Now I must only

Gasp silently for breath,

Smile through the pain,

Leak tears from closed lids

Onto a pillow at night.

Like a bomb has been

Detonated in my chest

Which no one can see.
